Computer Algebra Algorithms for Linear Ordinary Differential and Difference equations
Galois theory has now produced algorithms for solving linear ordinary differential and difference equations in closed form. In addition, recent algorithmic advances have made those algorithms effective and implementable in computer algebra systems. After introducing the relevant parts of the theory, we describe the latest algorithms for solving such equations.
متن کاملA Pragmatic Approach to Extending Provers by Computer Algebra - with Applications to Coding Theory
The use of computer algebra is usually considered beneficial for mechanised reasoning in mathematical domains. We present a case study, in the application domain of coding theory, that supports this claim: the mechanised proofs depend on non-trivial algorithms from computer algebra and increase the reasoning power of the theorem prover. The unsoundness of computer algebra systems is a major pro...
متن کاملParallel Computer Algebra1
2 Building and implementing parallel algorithms in the area of computer algebra has become an important thread of research for more than a decade with the increasing availability of various parallel architectures, from dedicated machines to network of workstations. New algorithms have been built and implemented to solve high performance computing challenges. The aim of this tutorial is to give ...
متن کاملNumerical Linear Algebra and Computer Architecture : An Evolving Interaction
The aim of this report is to highlight the evolving interaction between computer architecture on the one hand and the design and analysis of algorithms for numerical linear algebra on the other. This report can best be described as a collection of pointers to aspects of the development processes of numerical linear algebra, and to various existing surveys and software. The rich variety of activ...
متن کاملApplications of Computer Algebra
Algebra is defined as the manipulation of symbols. Today, algebra is commonly known as abstract algebra or modern algebra. Algebra is mainly used to describe the symmetries or patterns in the mathematics. Operations that made on algebraic structures are basic thing in the computer algebra algorithms. Set, functions (arithmetic, numerical, symbolic), field, group, semi-group, abelian group and r...
متن کاملIntegration and Diierential Equations in Computer Algebra
We describe in this paper how the problems of computing indeenite integrals and solving linear ordinary diierential equations in closed form are now solved by computer algebra systems. After a brief review of the mathematical history of those problems, we outline the two major algorithms for them (respectively the Risch and Singer algorithms) and the recent improvements on those algorithms whic...
